Ayah of “Purity” (Tat’heer)
favoring the Progeny of the Master of Prophets, the Noble Prophet (s.a.w.a.s.)
was revealed in the Glorious Qur’an in Surah al-Ahzaab Ayah 33 which reads as: Verily, Allah intends but to keep off from you (every) kind of uncleanness,
‘O the People of House! And purify you (with) a through purification.”
It may be noted here that there is
a huge difference between the two concepts, “To remove impurity from
a person” signifying that the impurity was
already attached to the body; and “To keep off every kind of impurity
ever trying to go near a person”. It may be
inferred that all and every goodness and virtues will be attracted towards them
and every unwanted sinful thing will be kept away form them. Similarly, every
pious, virtuous soul will be attracted towards them and the opposite types of
people will not come near them!
Another unique and special status
of the Ahl a-Bayt (a.s.) may be seen in Surah al-Ah’zaab Ayah 40, which reads: Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but the Messenger of Allah
and Seal of the Prophets, and Allah is Cognizant of all things.”
The above-mentioned
Ayah portrays another meaning that Muhammad is not the cousin of Ali (a.s.),
not the grandfather of Hasan (a.s.) and Husayn (a.s.) nor the father of Fatima
Zahra (s.a.); but the Messenger of Allah, if He (s.a.w.a.s.) respected Fatima
Zahra (s.a.) by standing to welcome her, it was not due to the paternal love
but the Messenger respected her, if he (s.a.w.a.s.) said, “Husayn o Minni wa
Ana Minal Husayn” it was not the love of grandchild but the Messenger of Allah
who foresee Husayn (a.s.) will preserve and save his Message of Islam till the Qi
amah, if he (s.a.w.a.s.) praised Ali (a.s.) specially during the battles with
the polytheists, it was not due to his blood relation but the Messenger of
Allah witnessed how Ali (a.s.) saved and protected the Messenger himself but
also Islam.
The infallibility of
Imams is clearly stated in Surah al-Baqarah Ayah 124, which says: And
(remember) when his Lord tried Ibrahim with certain words, then he fulfilled
them: He said: Surely I will make an Imam for men.” (Ibrahim) said: “And of my
offspring?” He said: “My covenant will not include the unjust.”
The word “Unjust” means
oppression or Zulm. A man commits zulm to himself -sins- or to other human
beings depriving their rights or zulm with Allah’s Commands by not complying
with his obligations or Wajebaats. Hence, man who commits sins is not
infallible. In conclusion, it may be stated that the Twelve Divinely appointed
Imams were infallible along with the Noble Prophet (s.a.w.a.s.) and the Chief
of the Women of the World for all time, Sayyida Fatima Zahra (s.a.) were also
infallible as confirmed by “The Verse of Purity” “Ayah Tat’heer” stated above.
